Description of Research Interests
My research has centered on the relationship between grammar, semantics and context in how meaning is communicated through language. A related interest is how these processes are evidenced in spoken and signed languages. My empirical work on these questions has been based mainly on Somali and related Cushitic languages of North East Africa and Irish Sign Language.
