 AutoMoTIF
From
Jun 2024
To
May 2027
Summary
I am Principal Investigator for the Horizon Europe AutoMoTIF project at Trinity College Dublin, leading Task 3.5 on assessing the societal impacts of automation in multimodal freight transport. The project aims to overcome the fragmentation of automation across transport modes by simulating integrated solutions for rail, road, port, and inland waterway logistics. My work focuses on evaluating the social, environmental, and governance implications of automation, including effects on employment, equity, safety, and public trust. AutoMoTIF supports the design of sustainable, human-centred logistics systems for Europe"s low-carbon future. https://automotif-project.eu/ Skills: Societal Impact Assessment · Responsible Innovation · Multimodal Freight Transport

 BASTILLE
From
Mar 2024
To
Feb 2027
Summary
I am Lead Applicant and Coordinator of the BASTILLE project at Trinity College Dublin, funded by Ireland"s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The project investigates the barriers and enablers to a circular economy in Ireland through the lens of battery-grade graphite, and produces an evidence-based roadmap and Policy White Paper to support this transition. I lead the project"s strategic direction and coordinate all work packages, including the co-design of use cases and analysis of Societal Readiness Levels (SRLs) to assess public and stakeholder preparedness for sustainable materials policy. BASTILLE integrates technical, behavioural, and regulatory insights to inform future policy and foster more circular, transparent and trustworthy systems in support of Ireland"s energy and climate goals. https://bastille-project.ie/about Skills: Policy Impact & White Paper Development · Implementation Science

 RAIDO
From
Jan 2024
To
Dec 2026
Summary
I am Principal Investigator (PI) for the Horizon Europe-funded RAIDO project at Trinity College Dublin, leading Work Package 4 (WP4), which focuses on ethical standards, explainability, transparency, and trustworthiness in AI. WP4 ensures that Ethics by Design principles are embedded throughout the project, aligning RAIDO"s pilots with EU AI Act requirements. We are also investigating Societal Readiness Levels (SRLs) to assess how prepared different contexts are for the responsible adoption of AI. I"m developing practical tools and governance models to support trustworthy, human-centred AI innovation. https://raido-project.eu Skills: Ethics · Artificial Intelligence (AI) · Societal Readiness Level (SRL) assessment
