Professor Gerry Hanna is the Marie Curie Professor of Clinical Oncology at Trinity College Dublin and a Consultant in Radiation Oncology at the St Lukes Radiation Oncology Network and at the Trinity St James Cancer Institute. Gerry also holds honorary appointments at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, the University of Melbourne and Queen"s University Belfast. Prof Hanna completed his undergraduate training at Queen"s University Belfast and his post graduate training at the Cancer Centre, Belfast City Hospital. Following his PhD fellowship, Prof Hanna was awarded the Royal College of Radiologists" Keith Durrant Memorial Travelling Fellowship to undertake a fellowship at the Vrije University Medical Centre in Amsterdam. Prior to taking up his current post, Prof Hanna was Chair of Division for Cancer and Specialist Medicine at Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and prior to this was the Director of Radiation Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne. His Research interests include the use of PET/CT in radiotherapy planning for lung cancer, mechanisms of radiotherapy resistance, stereotactic ablative radiotherapy and systemic therapy and immunotherapy combinations with radiotherapy. He was the chief investigator of the Peter Mac ACRF Radiation Immuno-oncology Program and the International Atomic Energy Agency's PERTAIN study. He is a TMG member for the UK's HALT, SARON, CONFIRM, ISOTOXIC IMRT and CONCORDE studies and continues to provide research support to Belfast Trust.
