Dr. Amanda Drury

Visiting Research Fellow (School of Nursing & Midwifery)

 


Dr Amanda Drury is a Research Fellow in the Trinity Centre for Practice and Healthcare Innovation (TCPHI), in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. She is a registered general nurse, with clinical experience in radiation and medical oncology settings. Amanda holds a PhD in Nursing, an MSc in Cancer Care, a BSc (Hons) in General Nursing and Postgraduate Certificates in Statistics and Innovation and Enterprise. She completed her PhD in Trinity College Dublin in 2018, where she was awarded the Health Research Board Research Training Fellowship for Healthcare Professionals in 2014. Her PhD examined colorectal cancer survivors' experiences of follow-up care in the Irish healthcare system, and the potential impact of healthcare experiences upon cancer survivors' quality of life outcomes. Amanda is experienced in quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods research, and is currently involved in the design and conduct of several research projects in the areas of cancer care, palliative care and chronic illness. In her current role, Amanda is supervisor for postgraduate research projects and provides lectures in Acute Care Nursing and Oncological Emergencies on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She a board member of the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), and represents the organisation as a member of the Research Working Group, and Young Cancer Nurse Network.
