Professor Gary James Donohoe

Adjunct Professor (Psychiatry)

Gary studied psychology at UCD and graduated in 1998. Following this he worked with the Psychosis Research Group in the St. John of God services on a study of a CBT based intervention for improving compliance in Schizophrenia. He completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Trinity College Dublin in 2002. His doctoral dissertation examined the relationship between neurocognitive impairments and the negative symptoms of schizophrenia. He undertook his postdoctoral fellowship with the neuropsychiatric genetics research group at TCD working on the Genetic Association study of Schizophrenia and related Psychoses (GASP). His work primarily involved investigating cognitive endophenotypes of schizophrenia and related disorders. In 2004 Gary was appointed Senior Clinical Psychologist at St. John of God Hospital, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin. In 2006 Gary was appointed to Trinity College as a full time lecturer in clinical psychology with responsibility for the behavioural sciences programme in the school of Medicine. His current research continues to focus on cognitive aspects of schizophrenia, with a special interest in cognitive genomics.
