Maria Brenner is Professor in Children's Nursing and Head of Discipline for Children's Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. She leads a programme of research on complex care which includes TechChild, a 5 year project exploring the initiation of technology dependence (funded by the European Research Council), and projects on respite care and care of children with complex care needs at the acute-community interface. She previously developed the first European principles and standards of care for children with complex care needs, as part of the three and a half year Models of Child Health Appraised (MOCHA) project (funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme). She advises, and collaborates with, numerous European and international health and social care institutions and agencies on child health issues.
