SENSE-Cog Care: A feasibility study of hearing and vision support to improve quality of life in care home residents with dementia
From

To

Summary
Over 70% of residents with dementia (RwD) in nursing homes live with under-recognised and under-treated hearing &/or vision impairment. This reduces quality of life, contributes to poor dementia-related outcomes, and significantly increases the cost of care. Reversing hearing/vision impairments may cost-effectively improve outcomes for RwD. Our EU-funded SENSE-Cog programme (www.sense-cog.eu), is currently evaluating a home-based hearing/vision intervention (HVI) for people with dementia; we are now adapting this HVI for nursing homes.
