Research Projects
Project Title
Measurement of Alcohol Consumption in Pregnancy
From
May 2006
To
June 2008
Summary
This project has two aims. The first is to ascertain alcohol use among pregnant women, by means of a self-completed questionnaire. 15 GP training practices from the Trinity / HSE GP training scheme are recruiting 20 patients each, giving a total cohort of 300 women. The second aim is to look at the feasibility of conducting this type of research in primary care. The 15 practices have been divided into three groups of five, with a different methodology for each group. These will be compared and the result will inform the methodology used in a proposed national study of alcohol use in pregnancy.
