My research interests are broadly within philosophy of higher education and philosophical approaches to higher education. My current research focus on how the humanities are a mode of engaging with the world distinct from the social, natural, and life sciences. I am also researching queer theory approaches to higher education, the ontology of policy, and approaches to dialogue within philosophy of education. A current research project, funded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), looks at academic integrity and how this is understood by staff and students in Irish higher education, and what this tells us about how to best encourage academic integrity across institutions of higher education in Ireland. As well as this, along with Taina Saarinen of Jyvaskyla University, I coordinate the 'Alternative Internationalisms' working group that seeks to develop alternative theoretical approaches to the international dimension of higher education.
