Dr. John Dinsmore is an Ussher Associate Professor of Digital Health and Integrated Care and Deputy Director of the Trinity Centre for Practice and Healthcare Innovation (TCPHI) at the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM). Over the course of his career he has gained extensive international and national experience leading major projects to develop and evaluate digital health innovations in practice, particularly within the Irish healthcare setting and across European member states. In particular Dr. Dinsmore has been recognised for his leading role in advancing the use of digital health technologies to improve self-management and care for individuals living with multiple chronic conditions (multimorbidity). This includes understanding the role played by an individual's care network (family, informal and formal carers and health care professionals) as part of any self-management regime. Outcomes from his research aim to understand and maximise the appropriate use of digital health technologies as part of a person-centred approach to home and community based health and well-being management. His work also seeks to strengthen academic, health service and industry collaboration in order to translate research outcomes into innovate practice within health and social care environments. Since 2015 Dr. Dinsmore has secured significant competitive research funding totalling over 13 million euros as a principal investigator from a variety of international and national award bodies such as the European Commission (EC), Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. This has included 3 awards under the EC Horizon 2020 (H2020) programme. He is Coordinator/Lead PI of two H2020 projects; ProACT (http://www.proact2020.eu) and SEURO (http://seuro2020.eu) and TCD PI in the H2020 MSCA VisuAAL (https://www.visuaal-itn.eu) project. Within these roles he has led multi-country development and evaluation of digital health innovations bringing together a wide range of key stakeholders from academia, citizens, industry, health services, legal and policy. Informed by his research focus, Dr. Dinsmore's teaching covers the fields of healthcare innovation, digital health, health psychology and behavioural science across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Within his teaching Dr. Dinsmore embeds key findings from his research ensuring students are introduced to the state of the art in digital health innovations exploring their design, development and evaluation, providing students with a range of innovative theories and methods (e.g. design thinking, behavioural science, business case development) to drive their creative thinking and generate potential solutions for the challenges of modern healthcare. Since joining Trinity College Dr. Dinsmore's leadership roles have included Deputy Director of the TCPHI, Lead TCD Principal Investigator (PI) for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Health, Knowledge and Information Community (KIC) and Course Director for the post-graduate programmes in Mental Health at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. He was also previously a Member of the Board of Directors for the EIT Health KIC UK/Ireland Co-Location Centre (CLC). In this role he led TCD activity to support the transition of the CLC to Ireland post-Brexit during the COVID pandemic. Dr. Dinsmore has also served on a number of School and College strategic and research committees (e.g. EIT Steering Committee, Tangent Academic Oversight Committee; SNM Research Committee; SNM Post Graduate Committees; Creative Arts Practice Steering Committee). He presently serves on the College Central Scholarship Committee, Industry PhD working group and TCPHI Executive.

Summary
Building on a previously awarded Horizon 2020 project, this EU-funded SEURO project aims to advance research into the use of digital health technologies for chronic disease self-management for older patients. Specifically, it will build on the ProACT platform, which was developed to empower individuals over 65 living at home with chronic diseases/multimorbidity to better understand and independently manage their health and well-being. In this context, SEURO engages a multidisciplinary EU consortium of public and private organisations to consolidate EU research assets into a new comprehensive approach for the scale-up and transfer of digital integrated care solutions. The aim is to develop three novel implementation support tools to help implement and assess solutions to patient needs.

Summary
Multimorbidity affects over 50 million Europeans, placing substantial strain on individuals and health systems, yet current digital health solutions remain fragmented, disease-specific and poorly aligned with the needs of older adults and their care. The Pro-Advance Translational Research Project (TRP) will advance ProACT, an evidence-based, multimorbidity-focused digital health solution, from a validated research platform towards a market-ready product. ProACT integrates health monitoring, personalised feedback and engagement analytics to inform symptom stabilisation, coordinated triage and care-network communication within a single ecosystem. Multi-country evaluations through the Horizon 2020 ProACT and SEURO projects demonstrate high engagement, improved symptom stability, reduced healthcare utilisation and strong economic value, providing a robust foundation for commercialisation. This TRP will progress ProACT from TRL 7 to 8 through coordinated commercial and technical work packages. Commercial activities include securing IP agreements, building strategic vendor partnerships, and refining a customer-led value proposition with early adopter pipeline. Technical activities include enhancing interoperability, scalability, security and accessibility. These activities will deliver a clear roadmap for achieving regulatory approval (MDR and ISO-aligned pathways towards CE certification) and position ProACT for transition to a commercially-ready (TRL9) solution, representing the first multimorbidity-centred digital health platform designed for scalable deployment and measurable population-level impact.

Summary
Europe is facing crucial health and social care challenges due to the demographic shift towards an ageing population and related economic impact from increased provision of care. Innovation in Active and Assisted Living (AAL) solutions has the potential to address these healthcare and social demands while profiting from the economic opportunities driven by the Silver Economy. Advances in computer vision have given video cameras the ability of 'seeing', evolving their functionality to become 'smart cameras'. However, the monitoring using cameras can be seen as intrusive and violating rights to privacy, because of the concern that raw video images could be observed by unauthorised viewers or stored for inappropriate use. Acceptance of such technologies is also low because they create a sense of Orwellian "Big Brother" surveillance. The aim of VISUAAL is to bridge the knowledge gap between users' requirements and the appropriate and secure use of video-based AAL technologies to deliver effective and supportive care to older adults managing their health and wellbeing. VISUAAL will seek to increase awareness and understanding of the context-specific ethical, legal, privacy and societal issues necessary to implement visual system across hospital, home and community settings, in a manner that protects and reassures users; outputs will stimulate the development of a new research perspective for constructively addressing privacyaware video-based working solutions for assisted living. This aim will be achieved by providing a transdisciplinary and crosssectoral combination of training, non-academic placements, courses and workshops on scientific and complementary skills.
