Dr. Amy Connery

Assistant Professor (Clin Speech & Language Studies)

Dr. Amy Connery is an Assistant Professor in Speech and Language Pathology at the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. She has over ten years of clinical experience working in paediatric primary care and disability settings. In 2017 she was awarded a scholarship to undertake research at the School of Allied Health at the University of Limerick. In 2021, she completed her PhD that focused on synthesising multiple forms of evidence to develop a framework to guide stuttering interventions in clinical practice. As part of this, she completed a systematic review of effective stuttering interventions, a meta-ethnography on the lived experience of stuttering, and semi-structured interviews and e-Delphi methodology with key partners including adults who stutter. More recently, she received a Certificate in Teaching, Learning & Assessment for Academic Practice at Trinity College Dublin. She is also a faculty member of the European Stuttering Specialization course (ESS). Her current research interests include evidence-based stuttering interventions for children and adults, Public and Patient Involvement (PPI), pedagogical practices of SLT educators, and protective and risk factors for speech sound disorders in children.
