HRB Cochrane Fellow 2009
Research interests include: Assessment and intervention in acquired motor speech disorders and in neurological dysphagia. I am specifically interested in the psychosocial impact of dysarthria. Current research involves developing an assessment, the Dysarthria Impact Profile, to measure the psychosocial impact of dysarthria on the speaker. This research involves collaboration with Professor Richard Peach at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago and Dr Nick Miller at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Evidence based practice: I have completed a Cochrane Review on the management of drooling in children with cerebral palsy. I am involved in the completion of five other Cochrane Reviews. Dysphagia: assessment and intervention for dysphagia with specific reference to upper oesophageal sphincter dysfunction. I am involved in the supervision of a number of postgraduate research projects in this area.
