Dr. Sajad Alimohammadi

Adjunct Assistant Professor (Mechanical, Manuf & Biomedical Eng)

Dr Sajad Alimohammadi received his PhD degree from Trinity College Dublin in 2015. His PhD research focused on the numerical and experimental characterization of fluid flow and heat transfer in unsteady impinging and co-flowing jet flows. He also explored the vortex dynamics of a pair of interacting synthetic jets issuing from adjacent slot orifices into the quiescent air using experimental (PIV) and numerical (CFD) techniques, with practical applications in active flow control and adaptive heat convection. Sajad graduated with a MSc (Eng) degree in 2010 from Sharif University of Technology. In 2011, he was appointed Research Assistant (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter) at the Institute for Thermodynamics (Institut für Thermodynamik, IfT), Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, where he performed research on two-phase CO2 ejectors. In 2015, he was appointed Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at TCD and Adjunct Research Staff member at the NSF I/UCRC Cooling Technologies Research Center (CTRC) at Purdue University, USA, in collaboration with Intel Corporation. In the latter appointment, he investigated the applicability of low-noise air amplifier technology for data centre environments, using analytical modelling, LES-based CFD, Computational AeroAcoustics (CAA), and PIV. In 2016, his research was funded by Enterprise Ireland and Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent, in the development of reliable lightweight vapour chamber heat sinks for wireless communication applications. Sajad was recently awarded a prestigious Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2016 by the Irish Research Council, to continue his career as a Research Fellow at TCD.
