Dr. Mary Mooney

Assistant Professor (School of Nursing & Midwifery)

Dr Mary Mooney is a lecturer in general nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. Her clinical experience in cardiac nursing and strong research background have been widely recognized. She has been an invited speaker and presenter at national and international events. Mary maintains a clinical remit in cardiology, in addition to her academic role. She is clinical advisor to an Irish Enterprise, funded by Enterprise Ireland. Prior to this appointment, she was engaged as a consultant for patient education and interventionist training with two international companies. In March 2019 Mary was appointed to the board of an International Steering Committee for a Multi-centre, double blind, randomized,placebo-controlled RCT. She was elected to the committee of the Irish Nurses Cardiovascular association (INCA) in 2019 and is an external examiner (post-graduate)for the National University of Ireland, Galway. As conference chairperson at Trinity College Dublin, Mary has successfully organised the TCD international research conferences over a number of years. She is actively engaged in research, most of which is concerned with cardiovascular or critical care aspects. Her groundbreaking PhD was a randomized controlled trial, which has been renowned for its effectiveness in reducing patient delay in the presence of heart attack symptoms. In terms of research funding, Mary has been Principal Investigator or a co-applicant across a range of projects, from a variety of funding sources, amounting to just under 0.5 million. She has many National and international collaborates and is the academic lead for the International Winter and Summer School at Trinity College Dublin.
