Dr. Micheal Collins

Dr Micheál L Collins is a lecturer at the Department of Economics, Trinity College Dublin. A native of Ennis in Co. Clare he is a graduate of NUI Galway, UCC and Trinity College Dublin. He was awarded his PhD for a thesis entitled "Perspectives on Social Exclusion" at TCD in 2006. His research interests are in the areas of: income distribution and inequality; economic evaluation; public policy; taxation; and development. Micheál is the chairman of the Regional Studies Association (RSA) of Ireland and vice-chairman of the Irish Social Policy Association (ISPA). He was appointed by Government as a member of the Commission on Taxation (2008-09) and served as chairman of the Commission subgroup on Tax Expenditures/Tax Breaks.
