Biography

Professor George Mellotte is Consultant Nephrologist to St James's Hospital and to Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin since 1995. A graduate of National University of Ireland, Galway, he trained in nephrology in Dublin and London. He has a M.Sc. in Biochemistry from King's College, University of London. He has served as Clinical Lead Nephrologist for the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group prior to taking up his current role as National Clinical Lead for Renal Services. He is Clinical Associate Professor, School of Medicine in Trinity College Dublin. His main research interest is in peritoneal dialysis and has published widely on this and other related topics. He has served on a several National and International clinical advisory boards and research groups. He was chair of the LOC for EuroPD 2017 conference that was held in Dublin. He has led clinical services on both Saint James's and Tallaght Hospital sites, overseeing a significant expansion of services, including home therapies and satellite dialysis centres.
